Someone should develop a pensieve app… you put your thoughts into it and it spits out code. That would be cool. But that’s why we have devs.

Meanwhile, I can’t decide whether to keep going or not. I kinda like it right now.. simple.. straight-forward… a bit of artwork thrown in y’know? So, I’m sitting here with one of those “It’s sorta ok with me for now” shrugs rolling over my shoulders.

Plan to add some custom post formats. And maybe I’ll just leave it at that.

As a homeowner though, once you get started on a project you just keep going until it’s done (because otherwise your house looks weird).

This web site is sort of like that. It’s a house that has had the wrong shade of paint for awhile. The theme I had says nothing about me, at all. But I kept putting it off. I’ve been threatening to redesign this site for months now… keep not doing it.

And so, it had to be stripped, DOWN! Got to start somewhere. Old theme is gone and twenty eleven is in it’s place (for now).

It’s like a breath of fresh air to see so much white space. I’m getting tired of over blown, too-much-going-on themes in general. I know how to build child themes now, so.. cool.. let’s do it!

Hopefully, it will put a fire under me to get going on this promise to myself. And once I get the outside painted, it’ll be time to re-organize the shelves inside. I’m surprised I get any work when I consider the sorry state of my portfolio pages.

Right. Off to the paint store!

So, here I am again, kicking myself for not having redesigned my own site yet and letting it get out of date. I haven’t added anything to the portfolio pages for months.

I’m know this is a familiar story for all designers/developers: taking care of your own garden gets shoved on the back fence while you tend client projects.

I was embarrassed for myself trying to navigate the menu on my phone.. yikes! Weedy… just full of weeds.

My clients are very glad I don’t treat them with the same level of disregard.

Time to get out the shovel.

Last year’s event was the first WordCamp I’d ever been to actually. There were some great speakers and I’ve stayed in touch with a lot of WordPress designers and developers in Portland since then. It’s been a great networking event and we hang out now and then.

Infact I got hooked on WordCamp and went to the one in Phoenix earlier this year and that rocked.

There’s a great WordPress community here in Portland, so if you live here and want to learn more about WordPress, sign up. Tickets will go on sale this Friday and they’ve sold out quickly every year. So, if you want to get into #wcpdx, get your ticket early.

My website is using a theme I got from Rocket Themes but I now want to redesign the entrie site using some of my artwork and making the portfolio more prominent. So, of course, looking for a good time slot to do that in.

Thanks to Front-End Design Conference for not only the inspiration, but for giving me a reason to actually post something here!

The theme was designed for the The Coalition of Affordable Housing Providers in Florida and is based on the Thrilling Theme.

Let’s see..what have I been working on lately? I’ve been doing a lot of CSS and HTML for other folks actually, which has been kind of fun. It’s been a nice break to be handed a design that someone else created and then just code it out.

As for what I’m designing, let’s see. Redesigned a site for a home builder in Florida but it’s still under development so no link yet. Also helping a client who uses Your Membership.com which designing several of his sites.   They’re also under development now. Not sure how I feel about this CMS but guess what? A couple of designers from Your Membership are going to the FrontEnd Design Conference in July, so I will definitely have a chat with them.

What else? Played around with CSS3 PIE recently for one project because we had to have drop shadows and rounded corners on a site for IE7. Have a look at my facebook page for  that info.

15 mins, no tweet. My settings are correct. It would be cool if this plugin had some sort of verification system when you activate it, like, “Hey! We successfully connected to your twitter account. You’re good to go!”.

UPDATE: OK, 56 minutes later, this post showed up on twitter.  It posts the post title and a link. That’s all.
